Since
the year 2000, HSS, Inc. has been actively developing
our Internet Connectivity package for automotive
dealers utilizing ADP's DMS solution. As the
Internet evolves, so do we in order to provide you,
the dealer, with unique ways of utilizing the wealth
of information contained in the databases of the
ADP DMS system. Unlike many other packages
offered to auto dealers, all transactions on your
web site are done in realtime - everything from
vehicle inventory searches to service repair order
status requests. There are no nightly downloads
to perform each night. There are no e-mails to remember
to send. This is a completely self-sufficient package
to enhance the dealer's web site. The software is
completely configurable - you can configure complex
results, or simply change the vehicle inventory
list color. The package usually includes, at a minimum,
one small server. The web side of this software
is not deployed on the ADP system itself.
This is done not only for performance purposes,
but primarily for security. It is generally not
a good idea to expose the ADP system, or any
other sensitive large database, directly to the
dangers of the Internet.
Here
are some of the software's key features, as well
as some features in development:
- Generate
vehicle inventory search results by stock type(new/used/certified),
make, model, and price range. If no search results
are found, a proper response is returned, and
the customer can try another search. The software
can also allow the customer to "request"
a vehicle if a search comes back negative, allowing
your sales personnel the opportunity to make the
sale. Vehicle inventory search results are also
capable of delivering such details such as a certified
pre-owned vehicle logo, or an icon to designate
that a photo is on file for the vehicle. Also,
each vehicle in the search results can be selected
by the customer in order to obtain a detailed,
printable page with information about the vehicle,
including the photo (if applicable). From each
detailed vehicle page, customers can contact your
designated e-mail box about that specific vehicle.
- Allow
customers to check on their vehicle's repairs
from their home or office. This is a tremendous
benefit for customers who often just want to know
if the vehicle repairs are completed, and do not
want to wait on hold to find out. Customers can
utilize several methods to check their vehicle,
including, but not limited to, home telephone
number, work telephone number, license plate,
repair order number, repair order TAG number,
and VIN.
- Allow
customers to make service appointments on-line.
This item is partially still in development. There
are two options here. Appointments can be generated
in realtime when the dealer is utilizing ADP's
ERO (electronic repair order) software, complete
with specific thresholds to prevent overscheduling,
etc. The second option is appointments via e-mail
(and optional SMS/PCS phone notification).
- Allow
customers to check availability of parts. Customers
can enter the part number they are looking for
on the web site, and the system will return whether
or not the requested part is in stock, and in
the case of special order parts, allow the customer
to contact the parts department for ordering.
The parts availability results can optionally
contain the list price, or some other calculated
price of your choosing. On a positive result,
the software can give the customer the option
to e-mail or utilize an on-line order form (usually
through a secure server URL).
- Allow
customers to obtain the service history of a vehicle,
provided that the vehicle was serviced by the
dealer. This service history contains no identifying
information other than the vehicle's VIN (which
is used to retrieve the information), and the
work request or problem, and the resulting diagnosis
or repair (if any).
- Automated
delivery of your vehicle inventory (and vehicle
pictures) to automotive web sites such as AutoTrader
as often as specified for maximum web exposure.
- Generate
statistical e-mails regarding the dealer's web
site usage by customers. These detailed e-mails
show what customers are searching for, which vehicles
they are viewing individually, which service repair
orders were checked, and which parts were checked
for availability.
- DEVELOPMENT:
Improved and more detailed service history available
to customers who establish an "account"
via the web site, which would allow them to log
on in order to get the detailed service history
and retrieve other customer-specific information.
- DEVELOPMENT:
Automated e-mails or cell phone notification (via
SMS) when vehicle repairs are completed on the
customer's vehicle.
- DEVELOPMENT:
Integration with our Body Shop enhanced interface
software (see our Products page) to allow customers
to be more involved with the repair of their vehicle
damaged from a collision.
